P and q are any two points lying on the sides dc and ad respectively of a parallelogram abcd. Show that ar (apb) = ar (bqc).

SOLUTION:

Since △APB and parallelogram ABCD are on the same base and between the same parallels.

∴ ar(△APB) = ½ar(||gm ABCD) _____(i)

Similarly,

ar(△BQC) = ½ar(||gm ABCD) _____(ii)

From (i) and (ii), we have

ar(△APB) = ar(△BQC)
