3 is is the remainder when P x Q is divided by 5  if  P is divided by 5 the remainder is 4 and Q is divided by 5 the remainder is 2

Given:

P and Q are numbers

P is divided by 5 the remainder is 4

Q is divided by 5 the remainder is 2

To Find:

The remainder when P x Q is divided by 5

Solution:

P is divided by 5 the remainder is 4

=> P = 5a + 4

Q is divided by 5 the remainder is 2

=> Q = 5b + 2

where a , b are natural numbers

P x Q = (5a + 4)(5b + 2)

= 25ab + 10a + 20b + 8

= 25ab + 10a + 20b + 5 + 3

= 5(5ab + 2a + 4b + 1) + 3

= 5k + 3

Hence 3 is is the remainder when P x Q is divided by 5
