P and Q are two points on the line x-y+1=0 such that each of them us 5 units far from origin. Find the co-ordinate of the points.

1.from the above line y becomes y=x+1

2.so both the points should look like (x,x+1)

3.since the distance of the points from origin is 5 so,

 \sqrt{x {}^{2}  + (x + 1) {}^{2} } = 5

squaring on both sides we get

x { }^{2}  + x {}^{2}  + 1 + 2x = 25

2x {}^{2}  + 2x + 1 = 25

2x { }^{2}  + 2x - 24 = 0 -  (1)

4.on solving the above quadratic equation in x we get x=3,x=-4

5.putting both of them in (x,x+1)

we get the answer (3,4) and (-4,-3)
