P and Q can build a wall in 20 days

Amount of work done by P and Q in 1 day = 1 / 20 part

They work together for 8 days

Amount of work done by P and Q in 8 days = 8 × (1 / 20) = 8 / 20 = 2 / 5 part

Remaining work =[ 1 – 2 / 5 ]= 3 / 5 part

Q can build the wall alone in 30 days?

Now, 1 / 30 work is done by Q in 1 day.

Therefore 3 / 5  work is done by Q in (  3 / 5 x 30 ) = 18 days. ANS

amount of work done by P and Q in 1 day = 1/20

amount of work done by P and Q in 8 days = 8 ×(1/20)= 8/20 = 2/5

work left =1 – 2/5 = 3/5

so 1 /30 work is done by Q in 1 day.

⇒ 3/5  work is done by Q in (  3 /5 x 30) = 18 days.
