Total profit would be 752 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The investment of,

P = 1400 rupees

Q = 1800 rupees,

Since, if the time is constant,

Then the profit is directly proportional to the investment,

So, the ratio of share in profit of P and Q = 1400 : 1800

= 7 : 9

Let P's share = 7x, Q's share = 9x,

Total share = 7x + 9x = 16x

Difference in their share = 9x - 7x = 2x

According to the question,

2x=47

\implies x =\frac{47}{2}=23.5

Thus, total share = 23.5\times 16=376

Now,

1/2 of total profit =376

⇒ Total profit = 376\times 2 =752
