P can complete a work in 12 days working 8 hours a day. Q can complete the same work in 8 days working 10 hours a day.if both P and Q work together working 8 hours a day.In how many days can they complete the work?

Solution :-

As both do same work , comparing Work we get,

→ 12 * 8 * P = 8 * 10 * Q

→ 12P = 10Q

→ 6P = 5Q

→ P/Q = 5/6

So, we can conclude that Efficiency Ratio of P & Q is 5 : 6 .

Therefore,

Total work = 12 * 8 * 5 or 8 * 10 * 6 = 480 units .

And,

Efficiency of Both = 5 + 6 = 11 units .

So,

In 8 hours a day both did = 11 * 8 = 88 units of work.

Hence,

Time Taken by them to complete whole work = (480/88) = (60/11) = 5(5/11) Days. (Ans.)

working together they complete whole work in 5(5/11) Days.
