EXAMPLE :

number of outcomes favourable to head = 1

probability of getting a head = 1/2  [P(E)]

number of outcomes not favourable to head = 1

probability of not getting a head = 1/2   [P(not E)]

Now,

P(E) + P(not E) = 1/2 + 1/2

= 1

Q.... If P(E) = 0.05, What is the probability of (NOT E)

Solution....P(E) = 0.05

P(E)+ P(E) =1

P(NOT E)=1- P(E)

= 1-0.05
