P is a point moving with constant speed 10 m/s such that its velocity vector
always maintains an angle 60° with line OP as shown in figure (O is a fixed
point in space). The initial distance between 0 and P is 100 m. After what
time (in sec) shall Preach O.
100m60

Answer:

After 20 sec   P will reach O.

Explanation:

According to figure the point P is moving with a constant speed , v= 10 m/s

while making an angle with O and the angle is 60°

Now the initial distance from P to O is 100 m

Now to reach to o p needs some some velocity and the velocity has two components one perpendicular to p and one horizontal to p

for perpendicular direction the velocity will be 10sin60°

for horizontal direction the velocity will be 10cos60°

now to reach to o p will go with  10cos60° velocity

Therefore velocity =  10cos60° = 5 m/s

distance s = 100 m

now we know that

s = ut

now putting the values,

100= 5 x t

t = 20
