Answer:

x:y=25:22

Step-by-step explanation:

In rectangle P-

l=40 cm

b= x cm

area= 40x

In rectangle Q

l= 40+25%of40

l= 40+10

l= 50

and, b= y cm

area= 50y

according to question area of Q is 10% more than that of P

so 10% of area of P= 40x*10/100=4x

therefore,

40x+4x=50y

44x=50y

x/y=50/44

x/y=25/22

so the answer

x:y::25:22

That's answer.

Answer: 25:18

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that

the length of Q is 25% more than the length of p

so

length Q=1.25*40--------> 50 cm

the area of Q is 10% less than the area of p

Area Q=50*y

Area P=40*x

so

50*y=0.90*[40*x]---------> 50*y=36*x-------> x/y=50/36---> 25/18

the answer

the ratio x:y is 25:18
