You should remember the theorem that perpendicular from centre bisects the chord .
Hope it helps.......

Answer:

The length of chord is 16 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

P is the centre of the circle. Radius of circle is 10 cm.

AB is chord of circle which is 6 cm from centre.

Please see the attach figure for diagram.

As we know a line from centre to a chord is perpendicular bisector of chord.

A line from P to chord at point M. PM⊥AB and AM=MB

Join AP

In ΔAPM, ∠AMP=90°

AP=10 cm , PM=6 cm and AM=?

Using pythagoreous theorem,

AM^2+PM^2=AP^2

AM^2+6^2=10^2

AM^2=100-36

AM=\sqrt{64}=8

AM=MB=8 cm.

Length of chord AB=AM+MB

The length of the chord AB = 8+8 = 16 cm

Thus, The length of chord is 16 cm.
