MN=1/2AB.

Given,

P is the mid point of AB. M N is the midpoints of Ap and PB respectively.

To find,

The measure of MN.

Solution,

If P is the mid point of AB then AP=PB.

Also, AB=AP+PB.....equation(1)

Now, M and N are midpoints of AP and PB respectively.

So,

AP=AM+MP and PB=PN+NB.

Put the values of AP and PB in equation 1.

AB=AP+PB

AB=AM+MP+PN+NB.

but, MP+PN =MN and AM=MP and PN=NB

So,

AB=2MP+2PN

AB=2(MP+PN)

AB=2MN

MN=1/2AB.

So, the value of MN is half the value of AB.
