The base of the triangle is 8cm

Given: The area of triangle is 128 sq.m and height is 8cm greater than three times of the base.

To Find: Base of the triangle.

Solution:

Area of triangle = 128 sq.m

Area of triangle = 1/2 b*h

Let the base be x and height = 3x +8

128 = 1/2 x(3x+8)

256 = 3x² +8x

3x²+8x-256 = 0

Now solve the equation by discriminant method

d = 3136

x = -4/3 + 28/3 and x = -4/3 - 28/3

x = -10.66 and x = 8

Ignoring the negative value.

Hence, the base of the triangle is 8cm.
