  • Methyl orange and phenolphthalein use as indicator , In Acidic solution Methyl orange gives red colour but in basic solution it gives yellow colour . In Acidic solution phenolphthalein is colourless but in basic it gives pink colour.

  • Amongst dry HCl gas and HCl solution, HCl solution will show acidic properties. This is because dry gas does not show any effect on the pH paper or the litmus paper. This is because it is not composed of H+ ions which are essential component of an acid

  • Calcium hypochlorite is commonly used to sanitize public swimming pools and disinfect drinking water.
  • Chemical formula: Ca(OCl)2
  • Solubility in water: 21 g/100 mL at 25 °C
  • Other anions: Calcium chloride
  • Other cations: Sodium hypochlorite

  • Crystallization or crystallisation is the process by which a solid forms, where the atoms or molecules are highly organized into a structure known as a crystal. Some of the ways by which crystals form are precipitating from a solution, freezing, or more rarely deposition directly from a gas.

  • Water soluble bases are called alkalis, e.g., NaOH, KOH.

  • The electrolysis of water in the form of a chemical reaction is as follows. - In electrolysis of water hydrogen and oxygen gases are released. (a) The gas which is released at cathode is hydrogen, ${{H}_{2}}$ and the gas released at anode is oxygen, ${{O}_{2}

  • The salt, or its solution, so formed can be acidic, neutral or basic. A salt formed between a strong acid and a weak base is an acid salt, for example NH4Cl. A saltformed between a weak acid and a strong base is a basic salt, for example NaCH3COO.
