 log_{5}( \frac{x}{y}  )  \:  =   log_{5}( 4 \times 2 )  \\  \\  \frac{x}{y}  = 8

Given x - y = 7

Put y = x/8 in the equation.

We get , 7x = 56

Thus, x = 8

The value of x is 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

The expression is:

\log_{5}x-\log_{5}y=\log_{5}4+\log_{5}2

Given:

x - y = 7... (*)

Solve the expression as follows:

\log_{5}x-\log_{5}y=\log_{5}4+\log_{5}2

            \log_{5}\frac{x}{y}=\log_{5} (4\times 2)

                \frac{7+y}{y}= 8

              7+y=8y\\

                    7=7y\\y=1

Substitute y in equation (*) and solve for x as follows:

x - y = 7

x - 1 = 7

x = 7 + 1

x = 8

Thus, the value of x is 8.
