Hey !!

P ( m ) = m² - 3m - 1

P (1) = (1)² - 3 × 1 - 1 = 1 - 3 - 1 = -3

P (-1) = (-1)² - 3 × -1 - 1 = 1 + 3 - 1 = 3.

p(m) = {m}^{2} - 3m - 1 \\ p(1) = {1}^{2} - 3(1) - 1 \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 1 - 3 - 1 \\ p(1) = - 3 \\ \\ \\ p( - 1) = {( - 1)}^{2} - 3( - 1) - 1 \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 1 + 3 - 1 \\ p( - 1) = 3
hope this helps.......
