P-nitroaniline is a much weaker base than aniline. Explain.

Nitro group is a deactivating group,it reduces electron density on benzene ring due to it's electron withdrawing nature.So when the basic nature of aniline and p-nitro aniline are compared,aniline has more Lewis basic nature due to more electron density on it than p-nitroaniline.
