p, q and r are three consecutive terms of an AP. Express p and r in terms of q and d, where d is the common difference. if the sum of the terms is 21 and p=6r, Find p, q and r.

Given:

p, q and r in AP.

q - p = d

p = q - d ——> 1

r - q = d

r = q + d ——> 2

p + q + r = 21

From 1 & 2,

q - d + q + q + d = 21

3q = 21

q = 7 ——> 3

p + 7 + r = 21

p + r = 14

p = 6r

6r + r = 14

7r = 14

r = 2 ——> 4

p = 6r = 6*2 = 12 ——> 5
