When dil. Sulphuric acid is added to sodium carbonate and heated, a colourless, odourless gas is evolved. This gas is CO2When CO2is passed through lime water, it turns like water milky due to the formation of calcium carbonate. Also this gas doesn't show any effect when passed through K 2 Cr2O 7
