on further opening the bracket we get

2x^2 - 3px-3qx+2pq+ p^2 + q^2 = 0

Now forming a quad eqn

2x^2 - 3x(p+q) + (p+q)^2 = 0

Using Quadratic formula we get

x= 3(p+q) +- root 9(p+q)^2 - 8(p+q)^2

we get

x= p+q

x = (p+q)/2
