This polynomial can easily be expressed as :-

This is in the form of a²-2ab+b²

We can factorise it as :-
(a - b) ²

So ,
P(y) = (2y-1)²
P(y) = (2y-1)(2y-1)

So ,
The Zeroes are:-

2y - 1 =0
Or, 2y = 1
Or, y = 1/2
