Let's factorise the. dividend

p^2 - 7p + 2p - 14
p(p - 7) + 2(p - 7)
(p + 2)(p - 7)

Now, [(p + 2)(p - 7)] ÷ (p - 7)

p - 7 gets cancelled

p + 2 remains. So p + 2 is the quotient with zero as remainder.
