P3.Nima went into a supermarket to buy some fruit.
There were three packs on special offer:
1) Ten grapes and five strawberries: Rs70 (save 10/-)
2) Ten strawberries and ten apricots: Rs140 (save 40/-)
3) Thirty grapes: Rs100 (save 20/-)

Answer:

The cost one grapes is Rs 4 ,cost of one strawberry is Rs8 and cost of one apricot is Rs 10 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the cost one grapes be x .

Let us assume that the cost of one strawberry be y .

Let us assume that the cost of one apricot be z .

As given

P3.Nima went into a supermarket to buy some fruit.

There were three packs on special offer .

Offer (1)

Ten grapes and five strawberries: Rs70 (save 10/-)

Thus the total cost of Ten grapes and five strawberries without special offer is Rs 80.

Equations becomes

10x + 5y = 80

Offer (2)

Ten strawberries and ten apricots: Rs140 (save 40/-)

Thus the total cost of Ten strawberries and ten apricots  without special offer is Rs 180 .

Equations becomes

10y + 10z = 180

y + z = 18

Offer (3)

Thirty grapes: Rs100 (save 20/-)

Thus total cost of Thirty grapes without special offer is Rs120 .

Equations becomes

30x = 120

Thus three equations are

10x + 5y = 80

y + z = 18

30x = 120

Take

30x = 120

x = \frac{120}{30}

x = 4

Put value of x in the equation 10x + 5y = 80 .

10 × 4 + 5y = 80

40 + 5y = 80

5y = 80 - 40

5y = 40

y = \frac{40}{5}

y = 8

Put the value of y in the y + z = 18 .

8 + z = 18

z = 18 - 8

z = 10

Therefore the cost one grapes is Rs 4 ,cost of one strawberry is Rs8 and cost of one apricot is Rs 10 .
