Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran, a French army surgeon stationed in Constantine, Algeria, was the first to notice parasites in the blood of a patient suffering from malaria in the year 1880. He was awarded Noble prize in 1907 for his discovery of parasite. Then  the history of human parasitology proceeded along two lines, the discovery of a parasite and its subsequent association with disease and the recognition.
