The IUPAC name of the above compounds are-

1) CH3CH2OH - Ethanol

2)CHCl3 - Trichloromethane

3)CH3COOH - Ethanoic acid

4) CH3COCH3 - Propanone

5) CH3CH2CH2CH3 - Butane .

For IUPAC name following points should be keep in

mind -

• Firstly we have to find the identity the functional group , then we mark the longest carbon chain with functional group and start numbering from there .

• There Is suffix and prefix we add that is unique for different functional groups . Suffix ex - Alkane - ane , alcohol - ol , ketone - one , carboxylic acid - oic acid . Prefix ex- 2- di ,3- tri , 4- tetra and if 1 C atom - meth , 2C atom - eth , 3 C atom - prop .
