Given:

The density of mercury = 13.6 g/cc = 13.6 gm per cubic capacity

To find:

The mass of 5 litres of mercury in kilogram

Solution:

We know,

\boxed{\bold{1 \:Litre = 1000\: cm^3}}

∴ 5 Litre = 5 × 1000 = 5000 cm³

Now,  according to the question and the formula of density

i.e., \boxed{density = \frac{mass}{volume} }, we can say

1 cm³ of Mercury contains 13.6 gm of Mercury

∴ 5000 cm³ of Mercury will contain = 68000 gm of Mercury

Also, \boxed{\bold{1 \:gm = \frac{1}{1000} \:kg}}

∴ 68000 gm = \frac{68000}{1000}\:kg = 68 kg

Thus, the mass of 5 litres of Mercury in kilogram is 68 kilogram.
