• Election Commission takes decisions on conduct & control of elections from the announcement of elections to the declaration of the results .
• It implements the Code of conduct & punishes any candidate or party that violates it .
• During the election period , the Election commission ( EC ) can order the govt. to follow some guidelines , to prevent the use & misuse of governmental power or to transfer some govt. officials .
• When on election duty , govt. officers work under the control of the EC & not the govt.
