रासो में दिए हुए संवतों का ऐतिहासिक तथ्यों के साथ अनेक स्थानों पर मेल न खाने के कारण अनेक विद्वानों ने पृथ्वीराजरासो के समसामयिक किसी कवि की रचना होने में संदेह करते है और उसे १६वीं शताब्दी में लिखा हुआ ग्रंथ ठहराते हैं। [2] इस रचना की सबसे पुरानी प्रति बीकानेर के राजकीय पुस्तकालय मे मिली है कुल ३ प्रतियाँ है।
