Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Focal length, f  = 6 cm

Object distance, u = - 4 cm

Size of the object, h  = 0.5 cm

To Find,

Size of the image

Nature of the image.

Formula to be used,

Lens formula, 1/f = 1/v - 1/u

Magnification formula, m = v/u = h'/h

Solution,

Putting all the values, we get

1/f = 1/v - 1/u

⇒ 1/6 = 1/v - 1/- 4

⇒ 1/v = 1/6 - 1/4

⇒ 1/v = 2 - 3/12

⇒ 1/v = - 1/12

v = - 12 cm

Hence, the image is formed at a distance of 12 cm.

Now, the magnification,

Magnification, m = v/u = h'/h

v/u = h'/h

⇒ - 12/- 4 = h'/0.5

⇒ 3 = h'/0.5

⇒ h' = 0.5 × 3

h' = 1.5 cm.

Hence, the size of the image is 1.5 cm.

The nature of the image is virtual and erect.
