Explanation:

(a) Total distance traveled between P and Q = 6 km

    Total displacement between P and Q = 6 km

Then,

Average speed=Total distance/Total Time taken

                          = 6/(5/60)km/hr

                           = 72 km/hr

Average velocity=Total displacement/Total Time taken

                          = 6/(5/60)km/hr

                           = 72 km/hr

b) Total distance traveled between P to Q to R = 10 km

    Total displacement between P to Q to R = 2 km

Then,

Average speed=Total distance/Total Time taken

                          = 10/(9/60)km/hr

                           = 60 km/hr

Average velocity=Total displacement/Total Time taken

                          = 2/(9/60)km/hr

                           = 40/3 km/hr
