Force is an interaction between bodies which cause an object to move.
Pushing an object(stone) and making it move requires bodies to be in direct contact.

Answer:
Force is a push or pull(on a body) which results in its interaction with another body.
It is not necessary for two bodies to be in direct contact with each other.
For ex.-
1. A magnet produces force on a metal needle without being in direct contact with the needle.
2. Falling of rain drops on the earth. (In this the earth gravitational force applies force on the rain drops and attracts them towards the earth surface).
