first find the value of k by putting 3 in first equation.

k= -6

then use 0=B^2-4ac

B=2k

a=1

c=k^2+2k+p

put values in the equation

4k^2-4(k^2+2k+p)=0

now solve it by putting values

you will find value of p = -12
