hi good morning . how r you
Explanation:
Autobiographies are important because they allow other people in similar circumstances realize that they are not alone. They can be inspiring for those who are facing problems in their lives. For the author, writing the autobiography allows them to heal as they express their feelings and opinions.
One of my bucket lists is to write my autobiography in book form. During our elementary and high school days, our teachers would always require us to write a short autobiography, or a personal profile. Sometimes, writing autobiography is a school project for English subjects but mostly of these are short. On the day my father died (May, 2010), I requested all my family members, including my brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and their husbands/housewives to submit their literary piece, in any form, be it a photograph, poem, short story, anecdotes, puzzle, and funny jokes, all that are related to our family particularly in memory of our father. We called our family as “Tropang Ipe”, named after my father whose name is Felipe. I compiled it and print into magazine form with a title “Free Minds”, I as publisher and my niece who is an English major is the editor-in-chief. From thereon, every May, we would publish a magazine. However, when most of our family members have gone to other places to work and settle as well, our publication stopped.
This is when I decided to write my own autobiography. Initially, I only intend to make a magazine but when I started to gather data and photos, and the initial draft, it already consumed 50 pages. So I decided to write a book or a coffee table book. It would be a full autobiography where my complete life story starting from birth through childhood, young adulthood, and up to the present time at which the book is being written. It would be a no holds barred since nothing is secret with me. My niece would serve as my editor-in-chief and consultant.
At first, all of my family member is against my plan as they see it as morbid. My niece is also against because when she see my initial rough draft, she did not stop crying. According to her, although she knows me, reading every detail of my life send shivers to her spine. I told them that it is my joy of writing anything that is related to my life. I wanted to share my experiences to inspire other people and serve memoire when I will be gone. Aside from my personal input, other sources would be my childhood friends, my high school classmates, college friends, former teachers, neighbors, previous co-workers, and previous employers that might be available for interview. Since some of these are either abroad or far from my place, exchange of communication would be through emails. The time frame of my autobiography is expected to be finished as early as 6 months to one year. My youngest son will be the designer of the cover. I intend to publish it in limited number to be given free to all members of Tropang Ipe, to all who contributed to complete the book and to our university library.
Maybe, I would share some chapters of my autobiography here in Toluna, and give free copies to a very few close friends here if they are still here and active when my autobiography will be published.
Wish me luck to make this bucket list come true.
