Sub: Spreading awareness about the need to use subways by pedestrians
My name is Ankita Rastogi and I have been living in Delhi for the last 18 years. I have noticed that the subways at many places in Delhi, ever since it was constructed, has always had poor patronage with little or nil pedestrian movement along the stretch. Although pedestrians are the most vital constituent of traffic, they also belong to high risk group with regard to accidents on road. So as to remain safe from such perils of road, pedestrians must nurture the habit of using subways to cross the road. Easy options and shortcuts of crossing roads are extremely dangerous and must never be resorted to.
Infact, children are more vulnerable to the hazards of road. It is not merely the drivers of the vehicles who cause accidents but also the negligence of children and absence of awareness that contribute to the cause of many accidents on road. Teaching children to use subways is essential since as parents if we do the right things on road, our child would also follow us and will always remain safe in traffic. Moreover, the government too must enact several rules and make it mandatory for pedestrians to use subways where there is one and also highlight the importance of using such subways to the pedestrians. This way there is the probability that more and more people start using the subways
