Yes, roots of plants which are under the ground also absorb oxygen. Actually the roots have protrusions known as the root hairs which enhance the surface area of absorption of the roots. they absorb the oxygen present in the soil by the process of diffusion. The process is facilitated by the empty spaces present in the soil.
