paheli watched her grandmother
making mango pickle. After she bottled the pickle, her grandmother poured oil in top of the pickle before closing the lid. paheli wanted to know why oil was poured? Can you her understand why?

When pickle is stored, it shouldn't come in contact with air. The air contains moisture and this aids in growing of mold. After the pickle is transferred to a bottle, oil is poured into it to block the air coming in contact with the air. That's why it lasts longer without having mold on it.
