hi khushi
Rent is an expense
And outstanding rent is a liability
So the rule says
Expenses all are debit and When liability increases, it is credit
So here is the journal entry
Rent A/C Dr. 5000
To Cash A/C 4000
To Rent outstanding 1000
(being rent paid for 4000 and outstanding by 1000)
hope it helps.
