4x + y = 7

4( 2x + 3y = 8)

2(4x + y = 7)

8x + 12y = 32

8x + 2y = 14

10y = 18

y= 18/10

y= 9/5

substitute 9/5 in 4x+y = 7

4x + ( 9/5) = 7

4x = 7 - 9/5

4x = 26/5

X= 26/5×4

X = 26/20

x= 13/10
