example, Maples. A palmate leaf is a compound leaf that is divided into leaflets whose stems emanate from a single central point. Examples are horse chestnuts and Buckeyes. When something is termed Pedate, it is either a palmate or a palmately lobed leafwhere even the basal lobes or leaflets are lobed.
