This COMMITTEE was HEADED by BALWANT RAI G MEHTA.
It SUBMITTED its REPORT in NOVEMBER 1957.

It RECOMMENDED the ESTABLISHMENT of the SCHEME of 'DEMOCRATIC DECENTRALISATION'.



The committee recommended a three-tier system of rural local government, which is called panchayat raj.

Rajasthan in 1959 became the first state in India to launch the Panchayati Raj.
