pancreatic gland is known as heterocrine gland as it performs more than one function, i.e., both exocrine and endocrine glands. Pancreas secrete two hormones glucagon and insulin as a part of its endocrine function and pancreatic juice function as exocrine function.

Heterocrine gland is the gland with both endocrine and exocrine part. Pancreatic gland is called heterocrine because pancreas is a secretory organ with hormonal role (endocrine) and digestive role (exocrine) . Endocrine secrete insulin in the blood maintain its normal blood level and exocrine  secrete pancreatic juice which helps in digestion of starch and protein.
