It secretes 'pancreatic juice' which contains variety of enzymes which includes lipase, pancreatic juice, amylase and nucleases. It is a colorless, odorless, and highly alkaline solution with pH level from 8 to 8.4
The reason of its alkalinity is due to the presence of bicarbonate ions. Bicarbonates are used to neutralize the acidic gastric acid.
