He was born on 25th September 1916 in Mathura in a deeply Hindu religious family. He was good in academics securing gold medal in Board exams. DeenDayal was a proponent of an alternative model of governance and politics. He argued that neither governing philosophies of the East or the West were suitable for India. He supported socialism. He called his socio-economical governance model as Integral Humanism Theory (IHT) which was adopted by BJS/RSS. He introduced the concept of National sector (public sector organizations). Pandit Nehru initiated many of them. His principles are appreciated by many including Dr. Subrahmanya Swamy and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
In 1940s, he started a monthly “Rashtra Dharma”, a weekly Panchajanya and a daily “Swadesh” from Lucknow. He believed that Dharma was the correct guiding principle to govern a state. Deen Dayal Research Institute propagates a successful model of rural development with self-reliance. Many villages are developed in Chitrakoot. He wrote a drama in Hindi “Chandragupta Maurya” and a biography of “shankaracharya”. He translated biography of Hedgewar (founder of RSS) into Hindi from Marathi.
Unfortunately he was found dead mysteriously beside railway tracks on 11th February 1968, while he was on a schedule train journey in first class.
