"Tryst with Destiny" was a speech delivered by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, to the Indian Constituent Assembly in The Parliament, on the eve of India's Independence, towards midnight on 14 August 1947. It spoke on the aspects that transcend India's history. It is considered to be one of the greatest speeches of the 20th century[1] and to be a landmark oration that captures the essence of the triumphant culmination of the Indian independence struggle against the British Empire in India.

Speech on Jawaharlal Nehru –

Good Morning all the distinguished guests and my respected teachers. I am _________ from _______. Today I have been asked to give a speech on Chacha Nehru.

Chacha Nehru was a great freedom fighter who also became the first Prime Minister of India. He worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi and was also the President of Indian National congress.

His contribution to the Indian freedom struggle is unparalleled and unique. Being from a rich family he would have easily chosen an easy life. But, he chose to fight for the nation and its freedom.

He had no idea at that time, whether he will become a big name or end up in prison. He did that because of his love for the country.

He loved the children and said that children are the future of India. The children too loved him and called him Chacha Nehru. Therefore, his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day which falls on 14th November.

Chacha Nehru will always be remembered by children for his love and care shown for them. The country too will never forget him for what he has done.

Thank You!
