Paragraph:as i moved off, mrs. pumphrey, with a despairing cry, threw an armful of the little coats through the
window. i looked in the mirror before i turned the corner of the drive; everybody was in tears.questions:(a) where was the speaker going and with whom?(b) why was everybody in tears? ‘(c) find the word in the extract which is an antonym of the word ‘cheerful’.(d) what is the opposite of ‘before’? (e) why does mrs. pumphrey think the dog’s recovery is "a triumph of surgery"?​

Answer to the above questions are as below:

A) The speaker was taking Tricki (the dog) to the hospital to keep him under observation for a fortnight as he was denying to eat anything and had bouts of vomiting too.

B) Everybody was in tears especially the poor lady Mrs Pumphrey as they all have never stayed separated from Tricki. Mrs Pumphrey believed that the dog might die if he did not see her every day.  

C) Antonym of Cheerful is Despair (according to the above-given paragraph).

D) Opposite of before is after.

E) Mrs Pumphrey said it is a ‘triumph of surgery’ as her dog (Tricki) recovered totally in two weeks into a healthy muscled animal. Tricki was stretching and looks great while brushing his chest in the ground. No sooner Tricki noticed his mistress he takes a big leap onto her lap. He starts licking Mrs Pumphrey face and barks in excitement.
