• Through the process of photosynthesis, they utilize the energy they get from the sun to create food.
• The base of the aquatic food web is composed of primary producers, which include bacteria, phytoplankton, and algae.
• Many organisms use photosynthetic energy to create carbohydrates.
• However, certain primary producers may make energy in the absence of sunlight by employing a process called chemosynthesis to break down chemicals produced by hydrothermal vents, methane seeps, and other geological phenomena.
• On the other hand, A lichen is an organism made up of filaments of several fungal species and algae or cyanobacteria that coexist in a mutualistic relationship.
