Answer:

I had beaten an innocent animal (the mother of 7 innocent little lives) almost dead in blind anger. Yes, I regret that even today.

People own domestic animals like cows, chickens, goats, etc. in the rural areas in India. As I hail from a village, our family is no exception. We've almost 20 chickens (including the little ones). Among them, a Hen had seven chicks hatched just two weeks earlier.

It was around 2/3 o'clock in the afternoon that day, and I was about to have my lunch. At that point, the Hen tried to attack me, thinking that I would hamper her babies (which is quite natural). But, I didn't even try to harm her or her babies; and I got furious at this. The suddenness of the sheer anger had made me blindfolded. And I started chasing to beat her with a thin stick and teach her a lesson.

But with a single blow, she got fainted and fell down immediately on the spot. However, I made sure that her chicks remain unaffected.

I was totally perplexed for what I've done in a sudden rage. For a moment, I thought that she was no more. What haunted me more is the fate of those chicks after her death.

However, without wasting any more time, I started sprinkling water over her face and pouring water slowly on her head where I hit her.

Fortunately, she started responding to my treatment(!!), and I was about to regain my lost hope of saving her.

After 4/5 minutes, she stood over her feet. Within half an hour, she almost got recovered from the injury, although she was frightened. I didn't know which miracle had worked here. And I sighed!!

Later, I realized that she wasn't attacking me!!

I used to feed her every day, and that's why she might be asking me for food while I was going by her side, but I misunderstood her language and took it negatively.

Misunderstanding and beating an innocent animal without any guilt, that was the mistake I regret the most in my life. May Lord Rama accept my apology and forgive me.

Even today, she does so. Maybe that's the way she asks, "Hey, feed my children and me." As a human being, I should have understood earlier how livestock interacts with me. But, I'll make sure not to harm any innocent animal by any means in my life. And I'll firmly control my anger in any situation.

As Sadhguru says, "We should not give external elements any opportunity to control our inner peace."
