Arunima "Sonu" Sinha (born 1988) is world's first female amputee to climb Mount Everest. She is also the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest. She was a national level volleyball player who was pushed out of a running train by thieves in 2011 while resisting them.She was pushed from a running train by some robbers in 2011 while she was resisting them. As a result, her left leg had to be amputated below the knee, she got rods in the right leg and multiple fractures in spinal cord.[5]
