Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee the iconic leader of BJP is the first Non-National Congress person who was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for a complete 5-year term (1998-2004). The 10th PM of India served as a Prime minister for 13 days in 1996. Apart from Prime minister he served as the minister of external affairs, elected to the Lok Shaba for ten times, represented Rajya Shaba twice and served as the Member of Parliament for Lucknow, UP. He retired from active politics in the year 2009 due to health concerns.
India’s highest civilian honor “Bharat Ratna” was awarded to him on Mach 27 2015 at his residence by the President of India.
