While many children and young people get excited about seeing fire crackers light the sky in an array of bright colours and whistling and explosive noises, not all were excited about a popular festival of lights in India that is known for such activities. And for good reason.

In anticipation of the festival, a group of children in Bangalore initiated and conducted a session on the ‘Harmful effects of firecrackers during Diwali’ for other children who attended an After School Program. Before the session, students prepared charts with drawings and quotes with their key messages on them. “Say NO to Diwali” and “SAY NO TO CRACKERS”
