Answer:

Despite several calls and complaints made to the Electricity Department, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, no one seems to be paying heed to the problem I have been wanting to bring to their notice.

In our area or almost areas of our city, all the streetlights are on at 6.45 in the evening and go off at 6.45 in the morning. Now, the problem is that during summers, there is sunlight up till 7.30pm, and the daybreak occurs at 5.30am. There is no need for the streetlights to be kept on beyond that, isn’t it? On one hand, the government spends lakhs of rupees on advertising ‘Electricity saved is electricity produced’.

Then why are they wasting 45 minutes of power supply to light up thousands of light poles? Please help this problem reach the right people, who can understand what the issue is.

Answer:

Respected teachers and my dear friends. Today I want to draw the attention of one and all towards the wastage of electricity in our country. You will agree that during the last several years the consumption of electricity has been steadily rising. Since 2014 consumption of electricity produced and supplied was 500 Megawatts and more.

The major portion of consumption was of the industrial houses; it was 250 Megawatts in 2014 but touched 350 Megawatts. Residential units consumed 100 Megawatts in 2014 but it rose to 150 in 2016. In the agriculture sector, the rise was not steep because of a satisfactory rainfall. But there was also a slight rise in consumption in this sector from 2014 onwards.
